Key detection compares the track's harmonic content against known key profiles. It's most confident on harmonically stable tracks and shows you its second-best guess too — often the relative major/minor, which shares the same notes and mixes perfectly anyway.
BPM (beats per minute) is the tempo of a song — how many beats occur in sixty seconds. A 120 BPM track has exactly two beats per second. DJs use BPM to beatmatch, producers use it to set their project tempo before sampling or remixing, and video editors use it to cut footage on the beat.

The key of a song is the tonal center all its melodies and chords resolve to — for example A Minor or F♯ Major. Two tracks in the same or closely related keys blend harmonically; tracks in clashing keys sound dissonant when layered.

Every minor key shares its notes with one major key — A Minor and C Major use exactly the same seven notes. These relative pairs share a Camelot number (8A and 8B), which is why a key detector's second-best guess is often the relative key: the notes are identical, but a different note feels like home.
For DJs, the shared Camelot number makes that ambiguity manageable. Switching A/B while holding the number produces a harmonically compatible mood change, and the same compatible paths remain useful even when the relative key is the stronger interpretation.

It's a DJ-friendly shorthand for musical keys, arranged on a wheel of 12 numbers. 'A' means minor, 'B' means major. Keys next to each other on the wheel are harmonically compatible, so you can pick mixable tracks without knowing music theory. 8A is A Minor; 8B is C Major.
Open Key represents the same harmonic wheel with 1m–12m for minor keys and 1d–12d for major keys. The numbering is shifted from Camelot: A Minor is Camelot 8A and Open Key 1m, while C Major is 8B and 1d. Every result and the chart above show both systems.
